Per the announcement on social media by the wallet issuer, some Phantom iOS users said they were logged out of the application and could not access their wallets after the update.
The vulnerability has affected only the Phantom iOS users, particularly those who hadn’t backed up the recovery phrases, which are popularly known as seed phrases. If this backup isn’t done, it would be impossible to recover the wallet, let alone access the funds stored in it.
Phantom said that if a user did not save the recovery phrases, it was impossible for the company to help such a user recover lost funds, urging affected users to reach out for further guidance from the support team.
The development marked the second problem that Phantom users have had to face in the past few weeks. In late October, a technical glitch within the app and its browser extension showed users incorrect account balances, which caused alarm among them.
The company hasn’t given more information on what caused the recent reset issue, except to remind people that it is a good idea to keep a copy of their recovery phrases with them, as is a standard security measure.
