XRP Army Sends Token Surging 60%

XRP, the digital asset closely tied to Ripple Labs, has gained more than 60% this year, the most among the largest virtual assets.

The token’s rally comes after years of legal battles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Ripple Labs was sued in 2020 by the SEC on the grounds that the firm sold unregistered securities.

Later, it was partially vindicated when a U.S. district court ruled that XRP was a security when sold to institutional investors but not to retail investors. While the SEC has appealed the decision, expectations of a far more crypto-friendly approach to regulation from the Trump administration are growing.

Appointments by President Trump of key roles, including a pro-crypto SEC chair, have only added to the optimism. The CEO of Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse, commented on the prospects for the market with the arrival of the new administration and how that could affect regulatory clarity.

Strategic Reserves Drive XRP Hype

As Strahinja Savic, FRNT Financial’s head of data and analytics, explained, the enthusiasm of the XRP Army has been instrumental in sustaining this asset’s rise.

Speculation of a potential U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve has also helped sentiment. Reports indicate the administration is considering holding seized tokens and buying more. XRP, along with Solana and USDC, has been floated as a candidate for inclusion in such a reserve.
