The City of Philadelphia is launching its own blockchain initiative

Philadelphia’s director of innovation, Mark Wheeler, announced on Monday the initiative to make blockchain technology available to the city government. The city’s website has a section on crypto basics, including the Bitcoin whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto, the Ethereum whitepaper by Vatalik Buterin, a 21-minute introductory video by Andreessen Horowtiz, and a link to the foundation’s website. There is no set schedule for the duration of the Gambit Discovery phase. “I’m trying to understand the use cases very well and understand why there might be a value proposition here, and that’s the content of the site,” says Wheeler. The Brotherhood City is just the newest city government to enter the crypto space.
