How to create a Sporran wallet and insert KILT coins | How to get KILT when you join Crowdloan

This article was created to help the KILT community set up a Sporran wallet using the Chorme and Firefox browser extensions.

Sporran wallet

Sporran Wallet is a browser extension for reading and displaying KILT coin balances from the KILT protocol or from third-party applications. Sporran also allows users to sign and send transactions on the KILT blockchain.

Sporran Wallet is not like a normal crypto wallet, it can also generate DIDs (Decentralized Identifiers) and store them on the KILT blockchain and also store, maintain, sign and share credentials like a physical wallet in which you can put some coins and some credentials how . have passport etc.

Steps to Create a Sporran Wallet Using the Chorme Browser Extension (Firefox does the same thing)

1, You need to go to the Chrome Web Store line by line first shortcut This.

2. Click the “Add to Chrome” tab. A popup will appear confirming whether or not you want to install the extension.

3. Now continue to click on the “Add Extension” tab to install the extension in your Chrome browser. You will see a popup confirming that you have successfully installed the Sporran wallet extension.

4, After installing the Sporran wallet extension on your Chrome browser, you need to view it along with other extensions in case you have one. Once you’ve completed the above step, you should now be able to see the Sporran wallet icon in Chrome alongside your other extensions.

Create a new identity

After the Sporran wallet extension is installed, you can move on to the next step of creating an identity.

Click the blue logo of the Sporran extension you just added to Chrome and a pop-up will appear with certain information.

You now agree to the terms and conditions. To do this, move your mouse over the “Terms and Conditions” tab which will allow you to click on that tab and take you to another page where you can read the Terms and Conditions.

After carefully reading the terms and conditions, go back to the Sporran extension and click the box to the left of “I have read and agree to the terms and conditions”.

This allows you to create an identity or import an identity from an existing phrase with both tabs slightly highlighted, as shown below:

Now you need to click on the “Create Identity” tab.

You will then see a popup with certain information about the Phrase Seed from your wallet, see image below:

Note:

A, Always write your seed phrase on paper.

B: Never take a picture of the wallet phrase and DO NOT keep it on your phone or computer.

C, Never share your wallet phrase with anyone.

D, It is recommended to make multiple copies of the seed phrase and keep them in different places, z do if your house burns down?

E, If you lose the seed phrase, you will not be able to recover it in the future and so will lose access to your KILT coin.

You can now click on “I understand – go to the” Expressions “tab”. (I understand – go to the Phrases tab).

You will see a popup where you can write your seed phrase, see the picture below:

To see each of the 12 words, you can move the mouse to the right of each number 1–12 or over each of the eyelid symbols to the far right of each number.

Note: As mentioned in the photo above, you need to write down each word in the exact order it appears.

After you’ve written down each of the 12 words in the correct order and checked it is correct, you can click the Next Step tab.

To ensure that you wrote your seed phrases correctly and in the correct order, you will now be prompted to enter each phrase in the correct order.

Keep clicking on each of the 12 words you wrote down from 1 to 12.

In the photo below, the first word was “almost” so I clicked on that word in the bottom 12 words first.

Work your way through all 12 words and double-check when finished.

When you have all the words in the correct order in the box above, you can click the Next Step tab.

You will now be asked to enter your identity password using a combination of letters and symbols.

You shouldn’t use the same password that you use for other crypto wallets or exchanges and make it unclear to people you know.

After you have entered and confirmed your password, you can click on the “Next step” tab.

A window will now appear confirming that you have successfully created a KILT identity with a unique wallet address.

Click the OK tab.

After you’ve set up your wallet, take a look at the photo below:

To view your wallet address, just click the “Receive” tab, see the picture below:

Notice in the photo above, the wallet address is as follows:

4qpkxRZfVc19nWfgnhWSWLjKM967cznd6or1wGAum1QudvQD

In the photo above, you can click the envelope icon, which will copy the address to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.

Import wallet from an existing seed phrase

Click on “Import Identity from an Existing Phrase”. (Import identity from an existing phrase).

Follow the steps above until you have created an identity.

With your Sporran wallet set up now, visit the Polkadot.js website.

Once the page loads, a pop-up will appear from the Sporran wallet confirming whether you want to continue.

Now click on “Yes, allow access to this application” and go back to the Polkadot.js website and you will see that your wallet address has been entered.

You will also see that you are on the KILT Spiritnet chain in the top left corner of the website.

The Sporran Wallet allows you to create a number of different identities, each with their own unique wallet address and seed phrase.

Rename wallet (if desired)

A, Next to “KILT Identity 1” you will see a drop down arrow, see the picture below:

B, When you click the drop down arrow, you will see three options namely Edit Identity, Remove Identity, and Reset Password.

C, Now click on “Edit Identity Name”.

D, You now have the option to rename KILT Identity.

E, If you then click the check mark icon, your new identity name will be saved.

Q, Now if you go to Polkadot.js website and refresh the page you will see that your account name has been changed.

You can use the Sporran wallet separately or in combination with Polkadot.js.
