The company has teamed up with Sony to provide NFTs to ticket holders for the premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The news was made via AMC’s webpage, which stated that ticket sales for the December 16 premiere began yesterday. The corporation will only provide 86,000 NFTs to the company’s benefits program members, and app users will be able to get them after scanning a code while helping to the function.
This is the first time AMC has entered the NFT sphere, and they are doing it with a well-known property like Marvel’s Spider-Man. This might be AMC’s test pilot to attract viewers to return to theaters after a dry season because to the Covid-19 outbreak. Adam Aron, Chairman of the Board and CEO of AMC, commented on the promotion:
AMC Theatres guests and our AMC Entertainment shareholders have been calling for AMC to get into the world of NFTs, and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to start doing so than with our good friends at Sony Pictures.
The theater chain promotes these Spider-Man NFTs as “Eco Friendly,” which indicates that the chain via which they are distributed is energy efficient. The NFTs will be issued on the Wax blockchain, which is said to be carbon neutral. Wax is an NFT-specific blockchain that makes it easier for companies and platforms to launch their goods on the Wax network.
The platform has already worked with a number of well-known businesses and promises to handle over 15 million transactions per day at a fraction of the cost and energy usage of competitors. Cub Firm, a seasoned animation studio that has received multiple honors for its work, created the artistic design for the NFT line. More than 100 models will be developed directly by the studio and displayed on the drop’s NFT artwork.
