The Solana blockchain reportedly suffered another DDoS attack that temporarily clogged the network, but the network appears to be still online.
news
Solana‘s blockchain performance was impacted by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack in the past 24 hours, but the network appears to have remained online at all times.
A DDoS attack usually refers to a large number of coordinated devices or a botnet that floods a network with spoofed traffic to take it offline.
This isn’t the first time SOL has encountered this problem.
The latest DDoS attack was highlighted on December 9th around 3 p.m. UTC by the SOL-based NFT platform Blockasset after it discovered:
“We know that it will take a long time to distribute the tokens. The SOL chain is overloaded with DDoS attacks that clog the network and lead to delays. “
SOL-focused infrastructure company GenesysGo also reported on the problem, stating that the Validator network was having trouble processing transaction requests, but asked for silence as it claims the problem was due to “mounting pain.”

At this point in time, the nature of the incident is still unclear, as Solana Basis has not yet publicly confirmed any attacks, while Position.Solana shows that the network is free of problems and fully functional.
However, many accounts on Twitter assertive that Solana was shut down worldwide, with Verbit CEO Roy Murphy (and BSV proponent) clear up that “Solana crashed again and is now offline. Engineers try to restart the system. Seriously, you can’t make that up! “.
Early this morning, members of the SOL subreddit suggested that the network was congested due to another IDO launch on Raydium. “.
“My biggest concern with Solana right now is the performance impact during the high volume operations and launches associated with Raydium IDO. Literally every performance issue in the past 6 months, including the 17 hour outage, was the result of the introduction of Raydium, ”they wrote.
In response, one of the moderators of the group “Laine_sa” did not explicitly confirm whether the problems of the Solana network are again related to Raydium, but noted that there was already a “containment gap” DDoS attack from September:
“At the moment there is a priority gap for reconciliation transactions, to prevent crashes altogether takes time. However, it is checked. ”
CoinCu has reached out to several Solana developers for comments on the DDoS attack and will update history if they respond.
According to data from Coingecko, Solana (SOL) price has fallen 6.4% in the past 24 hours, to stand at $ 182.79 as of press time. Amid the retracement of most of the top crypto assets, SOL is down 26.1% in the past 30 days.
