Holders of popular NFT collections such as BAYC, Mutant Apes, Cool Cats, and Clonex will be able to utilize their current NFTs to mint new and unique items and use them in-game for the first time.
According to Harrison Hines, CEO and creator of Psychedelic, MetaSports Basketball is the world’s first open character game paradigm. He added:
“We envision this becoming a standard in NFT gaming, signaling a move beyond the archetypal fixed character norms, and replacing them with open games where characters can be derived from almost any NFT.”
Each NFT will be given unique properties depending on the rarity and characteristics of its counterpart NFT.
MetaSports Basketball adheres to a sports management concept in which participants form their own teams to compete against others in simulated contests and seasons.
Minting, collecting, and exchanging signature NFT players will allow gamers to establish their teams and franchises.
These playable NFTs are procedurally and randomly created 3D basketball players with developing stats and a unique lifespan resembling that of a real-life basketball player’s career.
Players can also choose to build their squad using in-game players or to bring external NFTs from approved collections and morph them into MetaSports players in order to create a metaverse-worthy team of any origin, style, or species.
The game will employ Ethereum as its foundation asset layer for MBA NFTs, StarkNet as an orchestration and game reward layer, the Internet Computer for gaming, logic, and low-value transactions, and IPFS as a storage redundancy layer and asset unique content IDs.
