The main headlines in last week’s NFT market news revolved around the release of Adidas’ first NFT, the Game Studio soundtrack on NFT and more.
This week’s NFT news was dominated by “three streaks” – Adidas brought in a number of different crypto-native NFT partners to aid in the process, and while tokens sold out in seconds, many in the NFT had seconds -Community some misunderstandings about how it all went.
STALKER 2 is a new video game being developed by the Ukrainian independent game development studio GSC Game World. As the game ended, the development team announced their intention to include NFT in the title – which made fans of the game sad. The team released a full-page statement explaining the rationale for the decision but later deleted it and now the GSC team looks to be getting NFTs off the headlines entirely.
A couple of different stories surfaced on the news broadcasts this week about NFTs in a new area: Politics. While both stories come from both sides of the political gang, Solana is the blockchain of choice for both people. The first headline is Melania Trump’s NFT announcement on Solana, which is selling for 1 SOL. Part of the proceeds will go to children’s charities, but which charities – and what that part actually is – are details that are yet to be brought to life, which leads to a lot of criticism.
On the other side of the table, California Democratic candidate Shrina Kurani, who runs for the House of Representatives, made the news this week of the release of 2,022 NFTs from Solana as part of her campaign. Kurani sees regulatory loopholes that need to be filled and has also wanted more education about blockchain technology.
Right now, this is the best opportunity for individuals in politics to make headlines with minimal spending on NFT, but unfortunately the real impact NFT can make in politics is a world we may still be very far from.
For those familiar with NFT – the idea of hanging your digital artwork on the living room wall is probably not unfamiliar or elusive. In fact, more and more companies are entering the market looking to develop consumer products around things like the “NFT framework”.
A notable name in the NFTs, Cozomo de ‘Medici, believes that “NFTs will debunk traditional art”.
Funko Pop is a notable name in the collectible world. Every weekend, the Hollywood Boulevard Funko Pop storefront in Los Angeles has a real row around the property. The Funko has a wide range of special features and has become an integral part of the collection. However, Funko’s newest Bob Ross statue, which is slated to have a corresponding NFT release on December 21, has also received considerable fan feedback. It remains to be seen whether Funko will continue with the expected release.
It’s been a quiet couple of weeks, monthly for meme tags like Dogecoin. Public opinion appears to have calmed down, at least for this part of the cryptocycle, as chains like Avalanche and Terra actively pursue the top 10 market cap spot. Dogecoin is still up and running, of course – and this week the chain hosted its first NFT coinage. Could this signal a more serious position for Dogecoin in the future?
