Despite widespread criticism, Ubisoft has stated that it has no intention of abandoning its NFT ambitions.

Ubisoft Quartz, its NFT platform, was launched earlier this month, and it began issuing tokens for its Ghost Recon game. Didier Genevois, the company Blockchain Technical Director, has since said that the business would continue to cooperate with NFTs despite criticism.

Genevois stated that the company had taken into account “both the encouragement and the concerns” of individuals who provided suggestions. He also described the adoption of NFTs as “a major change that will take time.”

He went on to say that the firm will “stay true to…three principles”: responsible technological usage, a dedication to a safe environment for users, and the sole use of energy-efficient blockchains.

The game company will not only carry on with its objectives, but it will also cooperate with the blockchain firm Aleph.im to enable decentralized storage for NFTs on the Quartz platform. On December 21, a press release announced the agreement.

Despite the backlash, Ubisoft will proceed with its NFT plans.

Quartz announcement attracted much criticism, with a teaser for the platform receiving 95% dislikes after being uploaded on YouTube on December 8.

The company intentions for NFT look to be lackluster. Liz Edwards, a member of EA’s Apex Legends team, pointed out on Sunday that Ubisoft’s NFTs had only sold 15 non-fungible tokens to date, totaling $400 in transaction volume.

Employees are also resigning for other reasons such as low pay and misbehavior, while some suspect that the PR concerns surrounding NFTs have played a role.
