Cyrus Foundation launches web extension that allows users to monetize surfing data.
Press release
Prepare Dinner Islands, December 24, 2021 – The Cirus Basis Data Ownership Initiative has announced that its data monetization product, the Cirus website extension, will be available for download worldwide from December 24, 2021.
World Wide Web users can download the extension directly to the Google Chrome browser, with support for additional browsers coming soon.
The team behind the project decided earlier this year to change their strategy to launch the browser extension earlier than originally planned and get one step ahead of hardware data collection routers and devices to enable World Wide Web users everywhere to Participate in the property economy through monetization of their data for their own benefit, instantly.
Internet expansion represents the first step the user takes to use data as a method of accessing the Internet. 3. Earning cryptocurrency in exchange for data – a much needed solution to broken big data models are in use today. The extension will be a big driver for the adoption of crypto as it is easily accessible to anyone through the Chrome Web Store.
Version 1 of the extension enables basic data sharing and monetization. Once users install the extension, they can use their browser as normal and check their balance to see how their earnings grow over time.
The CEO of Cyrus Basis, Michael Luckhoo, sees the milestone as the beginning of a new era in the world of data protection and the ownership economy:
“With World-Wide-Web 2. companies shared big data with advertisers and users only received the ‘free’ use of platforms and applications. One of the reasons for the exchange was that micropayments were not possible. Fast forward to today with the advent of cryptocurrencies and web 3. This is no longer an excuse. We need to put the people who created a trillion dollar industry back into the equation. It’s time.”
The Internet extension will soon also be available for other web browsers, including Firefox and Microsoft Edge. The team has also confirmed that the next version of the Cyrus web extension will include a data warehouse for more precise control over data exchange and updates to existing functionality in the extension.
The installation of the extension is very easy. All a user has to do is search for Cyrus in the Chrome Web Store, install it, and sign in. The interface is simple and intuitive and once activated, users are encouraged to return to their daily routines while they start monetizing their data and taking their first steps into data ownership and internet access 3.
The Cirus Foundation is the development team behind the Cirus ecosystem, an accessible onramp designed to accelerate the adoption of Web 3.0 and the ownership economy. This consists of the Cirus core, the Cirus confluence network and the Cirus device, along with its associated applications, which work together to give users true ownership over the data streams they generate.
