Fans have had conflicting reactions to the former Chelsea captain John Terry’s interest in NFTs.

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has changed his profile picture to an NFT image on Twitter.

The former English soccer captain worked with Ape Kids Club to build a drop for his family.

The Ape Kids Club collection of 9,999 “baby apes,” intends to promote NFTs among children. The former professional English footballer stated this week that he has acquired his own Bored Ape.

Terry’s advocacy of NFTs elicited mostly negative feedback from his admirers, with many accusing him of peddling the newest overhyped crypto trend. Some Twitter users have joked that his account may have been hijacked. There were also some who were overjoyed to welcome Terry to the NFT group.

The former Chelsea captain is far from the only celebrity to be on the NFT bandwagon. CryptoPunks were purchased by Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Jordan Belfort, Marshmello, and Curtis McDowald, who would flaunt them on Twitter.

For the first time last week, CryptoPunks NFTs were momentarily flipped by Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, with the lowest price for a Bored Ape hitting 53.9 Ether (approximately $215,000).

NFTs are also drawing a lot of bad press for their negative environmental effect and uncertain availability. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has frequently derided the current crypto frenzy. Keanu Reeves, the “Matrix” franchise’s star, is also an NFT skeptic.
