3 Twitter accounts of the Indian agency were hijacked by hackers posing as Elon Musk in order to scam crypto

3 Twitter accounts of the Indian agency were hijacked by hackers posing as Elon Musk in order to scam crypto.

According to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were on Sunday. The hacker changed the account name to “Elon Musk” and started a crypto scam.

Acquisition of a number of accounts

After taking over a number of accounts, the perpetrators posted many tweets promoting crypto. The hacker also changed the name and profile picture of the Indian Medical Association account to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. They then shared several tweets claiming they were the business mogul and repeatedly replied to posts by his name.

Experts believe that the attack could be due to the hijacking of passwords or the user clicking on a malicious link.

ICWA, of which the current President is Vice President of India – Venkaiah Naidu, quickly resolved the problem. However, the malicious tweets were still visible on the other two accounts.

Last month, a similar attack took over the Prime Minister’s official Twitter account. While this account was being controlled by the perpetrator, it posted a post about a Bitcoin giveaway scam.

The malicious tweet said that the second most populous country has officially adopted the largest cryptocurrency as legal currency. In addition, the account claims that the government bought 500 BTC.

This is not the first time well-known organizations or celebrities Twitter accounts have been compromised.

In 2020, cyber criminals hacked the accounts of Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and several executives in the crypto industry.

Similar to previous attacks of this type, the perpetrators posted scams with the names of hacked accounts and asked people to send bitcoins to a specific address in order to obtain doubles.

Twitter isn’t the only platform at the mercy of cyber criminals. Not so long ago, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak sued YouTube after accusing multiple scams of promoting fake Bitcoin giveaways on the video platform that targeted countless victims. But, unfortunately, the end result Wozniak lost the process.
