26-year-old Bitcoin miner electrocuted while repairing homemade mining rig

Danai Makmek, a 26-year-old Bitcoin miner from Thailand, unfortunately passed away while trying to repair his self-made mining rig.

Unfortunate accident

After noticing that his device suddenly lost power while mining Bitcoin and couldn’t be turned back on, Danai expressed concern over fear of missing valuable mining time if she had to wait a day for repairs. So he did it himself.

According to his brother Apiwat Makmek, Danai asked him to help fix the power leakage problem. Apiwat agreed and asked a technician to look, but the electrician made an appointment the next morning. The mining system is said to be capable of making thousands of dollars in Bitcoin per week. So we can understand Danai’s fear to some extent. If you can make hundreds of dollars every hour, you don’t want to wait long. And that is also the reason for this sad story.

Danai is believed to have died after his Bitcoin mining computer exploded, electrocuting him overnight. The next morning the electrician came as promised and found Danai’s hardened body, naked and in blue shorts, lying cold all night alone. Nobody knows if he could have survived with timely treatment. A video from his room shows dozens of messy cables and hard drives that Danai used to mine cryptocurrencies.

Even though the staff tried to revive it was probably too late. The police were also there.

“I warned her, but … I think Danai was too nervous and stayed up all night trying to fix the problem. The computer was upgraded to generate more mining power. Personally, I don’t think that’s safe, but my brother is determined to do it. He loves that, “said the brother who had just lost his dear brother.

Police Colonel Santi Shoosheud said there was no sign of fighting or coercion and no suspicious injuries. The police are still investigating the circumstances leading to Danai’s death, but they believe Danai was electrocuted.

“We believe that he tried to fix the broken mining equipment himself and was accidentally electrocuted in the process. The police are still investigating the incident, but no signs of scuffle, coercion or suspicious injuries were found. “
