Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has posted to Twitter to find out which cryptocurrency the Ethereum community considers the most viable alternative for ETH.
This Russian-Canadian programmer polled his 3.1 million followers to see which currency, other than ETH, they thought would be the most popular means of payment and store of value in 2035.
Bitcoin (BTC) holds a significant lead in Buterin’s poll, with 48.2% of total votes. Cardano (ADA) is in second place with 29.4%. Despite being dubbed “Ethereum killer,” Solana (SOL) is just in the third position with 14.6%. Only 7% of participants chose USD as an ETH alternative in 2035.
The second poll, which has gained over 175,000 votes, is being led by BNB. Ranked after BNB in order are TRON (34.7%), NEO (21.1%), and CNY (7.2%).
Vitalik Buterin’s followers are very much looking forward to the future of Ethereum 2.0. Last year, this project reached 6.6 million ETH staked, accounting for about 5% of the total ETH supply staked. This figure has doubled in less than six months, with 9 million ETH already staked ahead of Ethereum 2.0. The ETH 2.0 contract address currently has 9,015,586 ETH staked in it, and the number is rising by the day.
For the first time, the value of ETH locked on the network has topped $30 billion, marking a huge milestone in the crypto industry. The network’s validator node count has since reached 222,000 and continues to rise as more nodes are added.
