Vitalik Buterin: Which cryptocurrency is the possible Ethereum alternative?

The Russian-Canadian programmer Vitalik Buterin wanted to find out which cryptocurrency the Ethereum community considers the most viable alternative.

He asked his 3.1 million followers which currency – apart from ETH – would most likely become the leading means of payment and store of value in 13 years.

At the time of going to press, Bitcoin leads the first Buterin poll with over 444,631 votes. After a brief appearance at the top of the table, Cardano took second place with 30.3% of the votes. In third place (14.8%) is Solana, which recently emerged as the leading “Ethereum destroyer”. Only 7.4% of respondents predict that the US dollar will remain the world’s leading currency in 2035.

In response to Buterin, many churches began to support their own projects. The Dogecoin co-founder also named his Memecoin in the comments. As reported by Bitcoin Magazine, Tesla officially started accepting DOGE for a range of products today, causing DOGE prices to increase by 30%.

While Ethereum posted strong gains last year, some analysts, including JPMorgan’s Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, believe that the memecoin could continue to lose market share this year due to scaling issues.

Buterin clearly has some self-doubt based on his Twitter activities.

The Ethereum co-founder recently asked Twitter users to send him the best examples of criticism of him. The billionaire remembered how he was once called an “alien”.
