NFTs News

Gamers are united in their opposition to NFTs.

Gamers are fundamentally opposed to economic advancements masked as NFTs. Microtransactions may have been the main reason leads to the community reaction. Ubisoft confesses that it misjudged the consequences of using NFTs.

Gamers are united in their opposition to NFTs.

Non-fungible tokens are being opposed by gamers. They can’t seem to quit Tweeting about how much they despise them.

NFTs are now being offered by game developers. However, gamers are distrustful and believe that the developers are attempting to take advantage of them. So far, gamers have said emphatically no to the commercialization of their favorite activity. They are vehemently opposed to the incorporation of blockchain derivatives into video games. The New York Times reported on this after interviewing gamers and YouTubers.

Christian Lanz was one such gamer. He has long been a fan of the STALKER video game franchise. In an interview with the newspaper, he said that GSC Game World, a video game production firm, took advantage of its success by announcing intentions to add NFT support. The plans were scrapped almost soon after the studio revealed them.

Lantz believes that the introduction of NFTs is done simply for profit, not for the sake of “creating a beautiful game.” Other YouTuber players, like as Mutahar Anas, agree with him. According to Anas, individuals are merely “selling buzzwords.” Those that support NFTs in video games, he claims, are only interested in a piece of the pie.

Gamer Matt Key was more critical in his comments:

“I just hate [the fact] that they keep finding ways to play us in every possible way. I don’t see how [NFTs] benefit the player, how it improves the gameplay. It’s always a matter of money.”

Merritt Kopas, editor of the video game website Fanbyte, believes that gamers’ resentment of corporations has grown over the last decade. This is due in part to the increasing quantity of microtransactions. As a result, the advent of any commercial aspect, such as NFTs, has become an additional motivation for players. Gamers despise microtransactions and corporate cash grabs, not particularly NFTs.

Ubisoft, too, miscalculated the response. According to Vice President Nicolas Poire, the corporation “likely” underestimated “how strong the backlash could be.” Poire, on the other hand, did not say if the French video game maker intended to keep to its goal to blockchainize its products.
