Gate Ventures, the venture arm of global digital asset exchange Gate.io, has announced its participation in SEBA Bank’s $119 million Series C round as an associate member with Altive. Founded in 2018, SEBA Bank is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland and is licensed by FINMA to provide banking, trading and digital custody services to institutional and high net worth investors (HNWIs).
Gate Ventures believes that SEBA has the benefit of capturing the growing adoption of digital assets by institutions, which in turn will transform the entire crypto market. Following the funding round, SEBA will seek to apply for licenses in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Singapore, expand operations and strengthen its presence in key geographies.
“Gate Ventures was founded with the aim of investing in exciting new companies in the crypto space. We believe that the crypto banking market still has a lot of room to grow, creating a good opportunity for innovators to drive growth. As more participants enter the industry to better meet the growing demand for institutional custody and enable investors to safely store and use cryptocurrencies, we believe SEBA is in a unique position for growth,” said Marie Tatibouet, Marketing Director at Gate.io.
The crypto market has just seen its first wave of institutional inflows and Gate Ventures firmly believes now is the right time to invest in digital banks like SEBA. With the adoption of more cryptocurrency banking providers, institutional adoption is expected to increase sharply in the coming years. Once the bridges are made between TradFi and decentralized finance, it is inevitable that mass adoption will follow.
