Elon Musk criticizes Twitter’s NFT profile picture feature as a waste of resources

Twitter recently announced that it will launch a program on its subscription service, Twitter Blue, that will allow iOS users to use NFT as their profile picture on Thursday (January 20). Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk immediately expressed Dissatisfaction and criticism as a “waste of resources”.

“It’s annoying. Twitter is using their resources on this (BS) crap while crypto scammers are still spamming every topic!?”

Twitter’s NFT avatar service that allows users to set NFT as their profile picture and display it with a special hexagon.

“Twitter currently only supports NFTs with static images (JPEG, PNG) minted on the Ethereum blockchain,” the company explained.

Musk’s tweet received many comments. Some agree that Twitter should make better use of its resources, emphasizing the need to crack down on crypto scammers and spambots on the platform.

Also Adam Singer, former Chief Marketing Officer of Google agree with musk.

“Elon was right about that. Twitter’s product team needs to better prioritize what really matters in user experience.

By the way, each comment section of Elon’s tweet is a simple honeypot that they can use to collect large numbers of spammers/vandals (but they don’t do anything).”

However, some people have objected to Musk for using a ploy on crypto, most notably Tesla’s acceptance of Dogecoin (DOGE).

“Some people feel the same way about crypto,” one person told Musk. Another wrote, “Tesla is also wasting resources in crypto BS,” while a user questioned Musk, “Tesla promoting Doge isn’t offensive, is it?”

“Elon gets full support for criticizing for using resources to integrate NFT while Tesla is no less,” user MadNews sarcasm Musk.

Musk’s electric car giant Tesla accepted bitcoin early last year but stopped because of environmental concerns. They then started accepting payments for some items in Dogecoin on Jan. 14, Bitcoin Magazine reported.
