On Wednesday, American YouTuber and “internet detective” Coffeezillaa announced He was accused of cheating during an interview with YouTuber Paul “Ice Poseidon” Denino. During the interview, Denino confirmed that he earned $750,000 in investor funds after carpeting a crypto project called “Cxcoin.”
The story begins last July when Denino created Cxcoin for streamers and content creators on Binance Smart Chain. Denino then reportedly promoted the coin to his followers, telling them, “Don’t worry, no carpet pulling here, all coins are locked in a smart contract.” My wallet is stuck.” However, Denino abandoned the project just two weeks later and said:
“It’s pretty easy. Basically, this coin has been dormant for a long time; The crypto market is crashing and of course I’m not going to waste the $300,000 locked up in the liquidity pool so I took it away when it was no longer needed to stay in the pool.”
In addition to the above $300,000, another $200,000 comes from the Cxcoin presale and $250,000 from the marketing wallet, resulting in a total loss of $750,000 for investors. After public outrage, Denino returned a small portion of the embezzled funds to smart contracts. However, most of the capital has yet to be repaid. He explained eloquently in the interview:
“Yes, I can return the money. It’s my ability, but I’ll spend it myself and not give it back.”
When later asked by Coffeezillaa how much money he made from the “scam,” Denino said that 55% of the money would go to himself, while 45% would go to the developers.
Denino is said to have bought a Tesla just days after the theft. After his Twitter account was banned, many users took to Youtube and Discord to express their outrage, with Discord user 3840x2160p#3258 writing:
“Ever since he grew up, he has lived exclusively on sponsorship money. After that, his Twitch comeback was boycotted so his career went downhill and the end result was risking money from fans and investors.”
Ice Poseidon originally rose to fame as a twitch streamer playing the fantasy MMORPG game Runescape. In 2017, he was permanently banned from the platform for multiple allegations of fraud.
