Shiba Inu officially Twitter has announced a collaboration with an Italian fast-food restaurant called Welly’s in a recent tweet.
Welly’s has already completed a complete rebranding, adopting the Shiba Inu dog as its new mascot and a new tagline that relates to Ryoshi, the meme coin’s secret founder. Its menu and marketing strategies have also been changed.
The SHIB token will be accepted as payment at the store, with rival meme coin Dogecoin is also another option.
“The Welly’s team will continue to work on perfecting their first offering, Shib integration and strategies, flagship location recon, deep dives into the best way to structure the NFT’s they have on the horizon while working out strategic methods to scale (location, price, menu etc). We have some surprises for SHIB ARMY in store and this is just the beginning for Shib and food,” Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s developer, wrote in his blog post.
There is currently only one store in Naples, Italy, but the team intends to expand globally, rejecting the idea of cooperating with big corporations. Besides, this partnership is also considered a long-term plan.
Developers have also proposed using Shibarium, a layer-2 solution, to provide blockchain-based food tracking.
