On February 12, a mystery Bitcoin whale opened a wallet and deposited 44,612 BTC worth an estimated $1.89 billion. Following this massive transaction, this whale has risen to the 14th position on the Bitcoin Rich List.
Following the transaction, the crypto world has been wondering who might have carried out such a massive transaction. Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Bitfinex and Tether, was one of the persons suspected of being the source of this transaction because of his tweet last Friday.
Over the previous 3 weeks, on-chain data service provider Whale Alert has reported a rise in the number of large transactions, with over 10,000 BTC coming into wallets, a scenario that typically occurs before the crypto markets recover.
