American truck driver plans protest like Canada, accepting cryptocurrency donations.

While the Canadian government and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday tried to quell the Freedom Convoy protests in Ottawa by sending police officers to their camp, the US version of the protests, dubbed the “People’s Convoy,” is underway. To date, the US convoy has raised more than $100,000, according to the American Foundation for Civil Liberties & Freedom.

US version of the protest

For the past few weeks, the world has been watching the Freedom Convoy protests in Canada, with hundreds of truckers taking part in the event. They demonstrated on the streets of downtown Ottawa against the Covid-19 vaccine regulation that applies to the trucking industry. More recently, the Canadian government enacted the Emergencies Act after Trudeau said he would do “whatever is necessary” to end the protests in Ottawa.

The National Police in Canada have also sent letters to crypto exchanges asking them to select more than 20 crypto addresses.

This comes after Gofundme shut down a fundraiser for Freedom Convoy and its crypto fundraiser supporters. In addition, Trudeau warned that more crypto accounts would be targeted and dispatched police to the Freedom Convoy camp to arrest those who continued to protest.

While riders taking part in the people’s convoy are covered by certain media publications, supporters of the group’s Telegram chat channel continue to preach the mission at hand. The goal appears to be not only to end the National Emergency, but also to uphold the US Constitution.

In the past two years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, liberal activists believe the constitution has been trampled on by extremist politicians. “To the elected officials we believe command us: they work for us. The Constitution was written to give sufficient agency at the national level, but not to permit the deprivation of the people’s basic rights.
