Dubai Art Fair, the largest international art expo in the Middle East, will feature non-fungible tokens for the first time from March 11-13, 2022. This year’s show will feature the launch of the Art Dubai Digital area, which will explore the evolution of NFTs, cryptocurrencies, video art, and virtual reality since digital art first appeared in the 1980s.
The Tropical Futures Institute’s Chris Fussner, a cultural researcher based in New York, will curate the Art Dubai Digital segment (NFT).
The Dubai Art Fair’s digital area will have seventeen collectives showcasing their work.

NFT curator MORROW Collective, founded in March 2021, will exhibit works by 35 artists, costing between 0.8 ETH and 10 ETH.
Co-founder of MORROW Collective said:
“We will have a screen dedicated to VR, showing our gallery spaces across different metaverse platforms, and we are also proud of our physical sculpture in the center of the booth, produced by 3D printing from an NFT counterpart,”
Emergeast, an online gallery focusing on emerging and mid-career artists from North Africa and the Middle East, will display artworks priced between 0.8ETH and 8ETH. CarpETHereum by Mazyar Kamkar and Reza Vojdani will be on display, displaying an Ethereum sign wrapped on a Persian carpet, representing the beginning of Web 3.0 in the Middle East.
Hana Shahnavaz, Muhcine Ennou, Mays AlMoosawi, Tarik Chebli, and Parsa Mostaghim are among the other Emergeast artists who will be on display.
Emergeast co-founder Dima Abdul Kader said:
“an NFT/crypto focus for any art fair and art institution is a natural extension of the contemporary art market.”
Orkhan Mammadov’s artworks will also be on show at Gazelli Art House’s digital division, GAZELL.iO. Singularity in Heritage utilizes Middle Eastern rug motifs to generate generative patterns. It will issue 333 NFTs at prices ranging from three to six dollar figures.
This year’s Dubai Art Fair also incorporates the metaverse, with Campus Art Dubai displaying NFTs developed by 12 artists. The Global Art Forum will host a series of talks on digital artifacts and crypto economies. Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange, has sponsored a series of presentations about the fundamentals of cryptocurrency, digital media, and NFT art.
