L’Dezen, whose founder Payal Shah has styled Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Michelle Obama, will be the first fine jewellery company to launch diamond earrings that exist in both the digital and physical worlds.
Don’t be concerned, the diamond is genuine. Payal Shah’s L’Dezen will be the first fine jewelry firm to offer a pair of “digi-physical” NFT diamond earrings at a 24-hour auction on March 10 with Digital Twin, an NFT art, fashion, and tech marketplace built on Ethereum.
The 18K enamel gold diamond Limitless Earrings were created particularly for the digital auction. The winner will receive the earrings’ NFT, which will be backed up by their physical counterpart, and will be able to accessorize it with any profile photo (PFP) NFT that he or she possesses in a bespoke 3D rendition of the jewelry.
I found a website where you can purchase NFT jewelry and then add money to purchase the real asset, but the two are not linked. The second is a company that specializes in NFT wedding bands. You purchase the NFT bands to validate your marriage on the blockchain, which is what marriage is at its core: a contract. There is no physical component to that.
Ours is a hybrid of the physical and digital realms. In addition, the winning bidder can provide us his or her PFP, which our graphic designers can include into the NFT earrings. We already have a world of women and apes wearing the Limitless Earrings, including the apes of the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Although jewelry can be passed down through families, loved ones, and acquaintances, there is no way to be certain of an item’s provenance. Although many brands include a guarantee of authenticity with their items, counterfeits are common in the luxury market. Verifying authenticity of jewelry offered on the secondary market can be difficult, thus sellers frequently use Web2 firms like The Real Real to generate trust that their item is genuine.
This difficulty is solved by recording provenance on the blockchain, which provides information about the item’s origin and prior owners.
This time, I used my personal 3D artists to build the 3D jewelry. However, in the future, we will work with established NFT artists to give our pieces more artistic merit. I’m working on incorporating Coinbase’s services into my L’Dezen website.
I’m also working on stuff for two NFT projects: Crypto Chicks, which was founded by Elena Sinelnikova, and 8Sian, which was founded by a female Malaysian artist. Both companies intend to make more Asian-oriented NFTs.
My long-term ambition is to build a metaverse jewelry store where you can bring your avatars and accessorize them with our creations.
