Poland, for instance, has estimated that it could receive up to 1 million refugees.

In response to this crisis, Binance Charity decides to donate $10 million USD to major intergovernmental organizations and local non-governmental organizations on the ground to help provide emergency relief to refugees and children, as well as to support logistics on the ground such as food, fuel, and supplies for refugees in countries bordering Ukraine, among other things.

The Solutions

Protect the Children

Binance is giving to initiatives to ensure the welfare of Ukraine’s 7.5 million children as part of its ongoing cooperation with UNICEF. As the crisis worsens, so will the needs of children and their families. The monies will be used to purchase medical supplies, provide safe drinking water, provide social protection, and provide emergency educational resources.

Support Refugees

Binance is collaborating with UNHCR to provide immediate emergency relief such as food, water, and medical supplies, as well as to work to improve living conditions in temporary shelters.

In 2020, the International Strategic Action Network (iSans) established its first office in Poland. With their regional experience, they are well-positioned to restart operations to assist in the reception of Ukrainian migrants. With People in Need (PIN) expertise in assisting refugees suffering from the effects of war. Having an operation in Slovakia provides people with another vital departure route.

Protect the IDP

For some, leaving their country is not an option, or they have been unable to do so. According to the International Rescue Committee, there are over 100,000 internally displaced people (IDP) in Ukraine. Because these people are the most vulnerable, it is vital to provide help in-country as well. Part of Binance’s collaboration with PIN will involve their sister organization in Ukraine, which will be able to aid people who are unable to escape.

UNHCR has been present in Ukraine since 2014, with field operations already operating in six places around the nation, allowing them to provide emergency services both within the country and to those who have fled.
