Rebel Bots has Raised $2M from Animoca Brands, Ubisoft and Overwolf

Rebel Bots, an upcoming NFT game on the Polygon blockchain, announced today that Animoca Brands, the company driving digital property rights via NFTs and gaming to help build the open metaverse, has joined as one of its key investors.

Rebel Bots – A potential P2E Game

Animoca Brands joins other top-tier investors announced last month including Ubisoft and Overwolf. In total, Rebel Bots raised $2M in its private token sale round from gaming and blockchain companies and funds. The announcement sparked strong growth in Rebel Bots’ available NFT collection in the lead-up to the public launch of their governance token which will be held at the beginning of March.

The first Rebel Bots title, Xoil Wars, is a skill-based, sci-fi-themed digital card battle game where players battle and compete against each other. By winning battles players will be rewarded with game resources which allows them to build new, more advanced robotic soldier NFTs, and evolve their battle strategies to rank higher in leaderboards and compete for season prizes.

This successful funding round comes a few months after the Rebel Bots initial game NFT collection was sold out in August, which allowed the team to build an engaged community and generated an additional $1 million for the game’s development. Since selling out, the collection has seen increasing transaction volume through the OpenSea marketplace. Buyers are driven by the utility of owning the NFT, as every Rebel Bot owner will be able to form his own kingdom within the game. Further details about the game can be found on the newly launched Rebel Bots Xoil Wars game website.

Rebel Bots Xoil Wars is developed on Unity and will be launched on both web and mobile platforms in Q2 this year. The makers have years of experience in developing hugely popular social games for mobile and aspire to make their new game suitable for all gaming fans, with fast onboarding for new players, rich gameplay, and integrated player-to-player social features.

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented: “Rebel Bots is created by a talented and experienced team with a track record in successful social games. The project’s strategy indicates a good understanding of play-to-earn mechanics and a sustainable long-term economy, bolstered by the vision to publish multiple game titles in the Rebel Bots universe.”
