The founder of the NFT game Hedgie was defrauded of 16 CryptoPunks and ETH worth a million dollars

The founder of an NFT game was tricked into shedding 16 CryptoPunks and a great amount of ETH after falling sufferer to a scammer.

A scammer with an deliberately deceptive nickname much like that of a venture account referred to as “Cryptopunksbot” posted details about the CryptoPunk Discord group and knowledgeable traders about the likelihood of successful ten cash out of ten. Year anniversary.

The link takes you to LarvaLabs.io, a very similar clone to LarvaLabs.com, the company behind the CryptoPunks project. The phishing website opens a window that “looks like a metamask,” Stazie said, referring to the widely used in-browser wallet.

A pop-up says Metamask’s security has been compromised and needs Stazie’s seed phrase to restore access. As for Metamask, anyone with access to the twelve word seed phrase can withdraw money from the wallet.

The scammer convinced Stazie to re-enter the Metamask wallet’s seed phrase by saying that Metamask’s security had been compromised.

Stazie sent the crook “stupid” the seed phrase in his wallet:

“It’s just too stupid without critical thinking. Punks and ETH quickly disappeared before I could do anything. ” he blames himself.

The scammer’s wallet, which currently contains 10 CryptoPunks, appears at Larva Labs.

Today he sold 5 CryptoPunks for 149 ETH ($ 385,000 US).

The scammer moved a CryptoPunk that Stazie used as a Twitter profile picture to another wallet last night.
