According to WFLA, the suspect, Aaron Daniel Motta, 27, allegedly transferred the cryptocurrency while putting up the victim’s security system.

Motta took the client’s Trezor hardware wallet and obtained the password before moving the funds to his own wallet, according to the facts of the case.

Motta touts himself on Linkedin as a “certified ethical hacker” and “CyberSec analyst” who runs Motta Management & Mitigation Services. After being charged with two charges of grand theft and offenses against computer users, the defendant was out on bond.

Despite the fact that the hacker gained access to Trezor’s password, which was stored in the same location, the hardware wallet is regarded as one of the safest for holding digital currencies in the world.

Despite the assurances of security, hackers take advantage of weaknesses in such wallets to steal cryptocurrency from unwitting owners.

Users of Trezor hardware cryptocurrency wallets, for example, have recently been the target of a fresh phishing campaign. The attack involved a social engineering hack of Mailchimp, a popular email marketing platform, and the theft of client information.

According to reports, the hackers sent out mass emails to Trezor users, alleging that their accounts had been hacked. The evil guys told the owners they needed to upgrade their Trezor Suite as well as put up a new PIN.
