Pledge, a fundraising platform, has recently developed ‘PledgeCrypto,’ which allows non-profits to accept crypto donations in over 130 popular cryptocurrencies. Crypto donations can be accepted and instantly converted into fiat currencies using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether. Ariana Grande, a transgender rights activist, has used Pledge to gather cash for Trans Visibility Day.
Grande has created the “Protect and Defend Trans Youth Fund,” aiming to raise $1.5 million through a Fundraiser to match her personal donation.
“Over 300 hundred million people around the world hold cryptocurrency today and want more than ever to support the causes they care about,” said James Citron, CEO of Pledge, adding that they have made “it seamless for anyone to support the world’s largest network of 2+ million verified charities and for charities everywhere to seamlessly accept cryptocurrencies and further power their mission.”
PledgeCrypto’s platform is the one that is both free and completely integrated for both crypto and fiat currency. Donations made through this site are sent directly to verified charity organizations. It does not require any technical knowledge or experience, nor does it need a cryptocurrency wallet or KYC.
The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles, Big Brothers and Big Sisters LA, Streetcode Academy, Worthy of Love, Safe Place for Youth, CoachArt, Goodie Nation, and Taraji P. Henson’s Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation are among the other charity partners.
PledgeCrypto also offers a feature that allows any user to create a fundraiser page for any campaign or cause they support and then embed a donation button and a form on the website itself.
Pledge has also launched a unique program in which each cryptocurrency transaction will help verified carbon offset projects by contributing to these projects. This financial assistance will be provided by the United Nations Climate Neutral Now Initiative.
The goal of the project is to make up for the environmental impact of cryptocurrency mining and transactions. According to Pledge’s website, a large number of top non-profits have begun to accept crypto contributions through the platform itself.
Ariana Grande’s Trans Visibility Campaign has currently raised $750,977 from around 6000 donors. This year, Ukrainian government officials partnered with a number of cryptocurrency exchanges, including FTX and Kuna, as well as the staking service Everstake. Through this project, a contribution platform was built for contributors who wanted to send support to the military conflict in Ukraine using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
