Rarible Adds Solana NFT Support, Launches Marketplace For Degen Apes

Rarible Integrates Solana and Launches Marketplace For Degen Apes

This month, the Solana NFT ecosystem is stepping to the next level. Rarible has revealed that its planned integration of Sola NFTs is already active, after the introduction on OpenSea last week.

According to a press release, Rarible Protocol has introduced support for NFTs minted on the Solana, and Solana NFTs will begin appearing on the NFT platform “in the coming weeks.”

Rarible can be used by other projects and creators to create their own customized platforms because it is a protocol rather than just a marketplace. Solana adds a growing number of blockchains that are supported, including Ethereum, Flow, Tezos, and the most recent addition, Polygon. The RARI token from Rarible is used to govern the multi-chain ecosystem.

The NFT protocol has announced the creation of a customized marketplace for the popular Solana NFT project Degenerate Ape Academy, in addition to today’s announcement of Solana support.

Rarible’s addition of Solana support isn’t surprising; in late November, CEO and co-founder Alexei Falin told Decrypt that the blockchain was on the protocol’s roadmap, and that the company was working on the integration internally. Tezos support was set to go live at the moment, and Polygon support (which went live in March) was also on the way.

As of late Wednesday, CryptoSlam reported that Solana NFT trading was down 12% week over week. Meanwhile, according to Magic Eden’s statistics, OpenSea has only handled 13,082 SOL (about $1.37 million) in Solana NFT transactions in the last week.
