Mi Store Portugal is the only official distributor of certified Xiaomi products in the country and operates under European law as indicated on the website. The company currently has six physical stores nationwide and is expanding. Pedro Maia, Mi Store Portgual’s Marketing Director, said the company’s move to accept crypto payments is in line with the company’s innovation goals:

“We are a technological, innovative and disruptive brand. That’s why we always want to be one step ahead. We would like to give all real technology fans the opportunity to buy their favorite devices for what is currently “the highest technology money”.

As previously reported, Portugal has been slowly becoming a crypto-friendly country in recent years, with local authorities not levying taxes on cryptocurrency retailers. The local energy trading company has started accepting Bitcoin as payment for electricity bills.
