A screenshot of Andresen’s post from what appears to be the bitcointalk.org forum was included in the tweet. He wrote about agreeing to meet with the intelligence agency to talk about Bitcoin.
Soon after Andresen’s visit, Rizzo claims, Nakamoto “was never seen again.”
Nakamoto’s alleged 1 million Bitcoin holdings would put him/her/them in the Forbes top-20 wealthiest people on the planet. His wallets, on the other hand, have remained undisturbed to this day. Some see this as proof that Nakamoto intended to provide Bitcoin to the world as a method to break free from banker oppression.
There are, however, a slew of competing theories. Including Alex Jones’ ludicrous claim that aliens originated and control Bitcoin.
Nakamoto‘s identity and location are among the most enigmatizing aspects of the bitcoin world. Despite the efforts of an army of “internet detectives” who have combed through the evidence, no one knows who Nakamoto is.
Andresen planned to give a talk about Bitcoin at the CIA headquarters in June, according to a copy of his post (2011). He was asked to speak, which he viewed as a hint that Bitcoin was “on their radar.”
According to the article, the presentation is a great opportunity to talk about how Bitcoin can help the world by being “a better currency,” increasing competition, removing obstacles to international payments, and allowing individuals more control over their finances.
Some may think Andresen was being foolish when he said:
“I don’t think any of those goals are incompatible with the goals of the government.”
Despite this, Andresen expressed some concerns about visiting, stating that he is concerned that the CIA may get Bitcoin developers to do something they don’t want to do. At the same time, he saw it as an opportunity to clear up some misconceptions regarding the initiative.
Rizzo’s theory about Andresen’s visit and Nakamoto’s disappearance is AT BEST SPECULATIVE.
Nakamoto discussed recent advancements and provided build updates on bitcointalk.org. On December 12, 2010, he wrote about modifications to counter Denial of Service attacks in his last post on the forum.
“There’s more work to do on DoS, but I’m doing a quick build of what I have so far in case it’s needed, before venturing into more complex ideas. The build for this is version 0.3.19.”
According to Forbes, on April 26, 2011, Nakamoto wrote his fellow developers to inform them that he was moving on to other projects. According to the email, Nakamoto quit the Bitcoin project months before Andreson’s CIA presentation in June 2011.
In light of this, the dates of Nakamoto’s last known communications DO NOT necessarily support the hypothesis that the CIA was involved in his disappearance.
