‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli: ‘I started using Uniswap in prison’

Martin Shkreli stepped into Twitter Spaces just hours after being released early from prison to promote cryptocurrency, including the fact that he dabbled with it while incarcerated. The convicted crook also discussed DeFi and different coins.
Martin Shkreli has been released early from prison

“Uniswap is really cool,” he said. “I started using Uniswap in prison.” A deluge of responses followed, including one from the creator of Uniswap.

Shkreli’s crypto ramblings, which apparently drew 3,000 listeners, featured opinions on DeFi, Ethereum, and the idea of Apple or Tesla money.

Vitalik Buterin did not appear amused.

Shkreli, then the head of Turing Pharmaceuticals (since renamed Vyera), earned the moniker “Pharma Bro” after hiking the price of Daraprim, a medicine used by many AIDS and cancer patients, from $13.50 to $750.

In 2017, he was found guilty on two charges of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to conduct securities fraud, and he was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018. Those accusations were unrelated to the Daraprim price increase, yet he is still barred from the pharmaceutical sector for life.

One explanation proposed by renowned essayist and mathematician Nassim Nicholas Taleb explains why Shkreli, 39, was released early.

The crypto community on Twitter is also buzzing with the news that Martin Shkreli, “the most hated man in America,” is joining crypto.

The NFT holders Milady is “going crazy” to see Mr. Skhreli using their NFT as the profile picture of an unofficial account, and the crypto community on Twitter is “exploding” at the prospect of this character being able to. further into the crypto industry. The number of mentions of the keyword “Shkreli” on Twitter is increasing at a truly dizzying rate.

In a Facebook post from Wednesday, Martin Shkreli wrote: “Getting out of prison is actually easier than getting out of Twitter prison.”
