Scam Alert: Don’t Access The “Biggest Airdrop” Website by OpenSea Scammers!

Don’t Access The “Biggest Airdrop” Website by OpenSea Scammers!

Scammers have stolen the name of OpenSea, the largest and most popular marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFT). Invitations to the “biggest airdrop” are being sent to top-tier investors through messages.

CMS Holdings, a seasoned cryptocurrency investor, issued a warning on Twitter regarding a fraud effort now ongoing. From a mobile phone number listed in the state of Texas, someone is sending links to a fraudulent OpenSea website.

Scammers say that the leading NFT marketplace coordinated the “biggest airdrop,” and that anybody may visit an official OpenSea website’s airdrop page.

However, OpenSea has not verified this announcement; the announcement website is registered in the.co zone, meanwhile the official OpenSea website is registered in the international.com zone.

According to CMS Holdings, fraudsters are sending hundreds of texts at once using phone numbers from hacked databases. In only a few hours, the Web3 expert from the tweet received 50 replies.

Scammers hacked OpenSea’s primary Discord server earlier last month. They were disseminating fake YouTube partnership announcements via phishing URLs.

They also claimed that YouTube and OpenSea issued a unique NFT drop on a video hosting platform with particular “utilities.”
