According to a statement on Twitter on Wednesday, the “social” humanoid Sophia made by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics launched her Baby Singularities NFT collection on OpenSea. Percy Lau, an artist, collaborated with Sophia on the project. Percy Lau became famous for his appearances on The Tonight Show and Good Morning Britain, as well as becoming the world’s first robot to get citizenship.
The NFT collection’s nine Baby Sophia heads have a floor price of 0.09 ETH, and each is meant to disclose a far-future prediction. Sophia’s prior NFT partnerships have sold for millions of dollars, and Baby Singularities NFT owners will pay a premium for access to Sophia’s AI and metaverse.
Sophia’s metaverse, dubbed SAOS, will launch as an NFT-based game environment and marketplace set in 2042, when machines “awaken.”
Last year, the social media giant Facebook changed its name to “Meta” to represent a shift in the company’s focus to the metaverse, sparking a rush of businesses to capitalize on the renewed interest in the topic. Unlike Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, which are restricted to people’s phones or smart home terminals, Meta’s new assistant, “CAIRaoke,” will work as an augmented reality application via smart glasses.
It can provide visual clues, recommendations, and analysis depending on what the user sees through a heads-up display in the lenses.
