Most of Dogecoin’s Code Were Written By Bitcoin Devs?

Who Wrote Most Of Dogecoin Code?

Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Dogecoin, has joked that the majority of the Dogecoin code was written by Bitcoin developers. “They (Bitcoin developers) didn’t make dogecoin, but dogecoin is mostly bitcoin code,” Markus continues.

Dogecoin was established in 2013 by Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus. This memecoin is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency that was invented as a joke in response to a popular Shiba Inu meme. Tesla’s CEO  Elon Musk has stepped up his criticism on Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer, claiming that the Australian software developer never written a single line of DOGE code.

“And Palmer always forgets to mention that he never wrote a single line of Dogecoin code,” Musk said.

Palmer reacted with a now-deleted tweet that linked to his efforts on Github. In an attempt to defuse the situation, fellow co-founder Billy Markus stated that neither he nor Palmer contributed much to the project, which was initially intended to be a joke.

“The people after us did exponentially more than either Jackson or I did on the codebase. “I think I wrote like 20 lines of code and copied the rest,” Markus stated.

In May 2021, DOGE token hit all-time highs of $0.73, extending its previous surge following Elon Musk’s endorsement of the meme coin as his preferred cryptocurrency. Elon Musk’s appearance on Saturday Night Live was timed to coincide with the cryptocurrency’s all-time highs.

Elon Musk tweeted on May 27 that products for SpaceX, his space exploration company, would soon be available for purchase using DOGE token, similar to Tesla stuff. The price of DOGE soared by as much as 15% after the tweet, before reversing its gains.
