Cryptocurrencies are becoming a more popular alternative to regular payments, and they’ve also shown to be a useful tool for giving and accepting donations, as the invasion of Ukraine recently demonstrated.

According to a report by the ARN News Centre on June 3, as more individuals, governments, and organizations see the benefits of this strategy, a hospital charity in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to begin taking cryptocurrencies donations.

With this move, the Al Jalila Foundation, based in Dubai and created by UAE Prime Minister Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has become the first charity of its kind to accept cryptocurrencies donations, such as Bitcoin (BTC).

The foundation’s CEO, Dr. Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, also commented on the development, saying that it would help in “bridging the gap between physical and digital currency,” adding that:

“Providing the opportunity to the growing number of crypto users around the world to donate to Al Jalila Foundation to causes that interest them is a win-win for us as a foundation and the donor community.”

The UAE organization, which is part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has teamed with a renowned cryptocurrency platform to do this.

The UAE is one of the countries at the vanguard of the cryptocurrency wagon, aiming to open up as much of the area as possible to innovation and make it a location of opportunity for women in the crypto sector.

Indeed, Abu Dhabi, one of the emirates, is making its own attempts. Access Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) have teamed up with Unstoppable Domains, a Web3 identity platform and non-fungible token (NFT) domain name provider based in the United States, to offer free crypto domains to women in the UAE capital.
