The Mayor of NYC promises to turn the city into a bitcoin hub

In the same month, the discussion about the up-and-coming crypto capital of the USA seems to have shifted its focus from Miami to New York City. June started with great excitement over the biggest Bitcoin event in history in Miami, and the city’s mayor, Francis Suarez, has taken a number of steps to make Miami the premier crypto spot not just nationally but globally.

However, with US pundits now focused on the New York City mayor’s race, Democratic candidate Eric Adams’ current boss has stolen the limelight from Suarez and his plans – at least for a moment. On Tuesday election night, shortly after voting closed for the primaries, Adams promised:

“I promise you in a year […] You will see a different city. […] We will be the center of life sciences, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, the center of drones, the center of Bitcoin. We are becoming the center of all technology. “

In a city known for its overwhelming democratic leanings, a successful election campaign as a Democratic candidate is seen by most commentators as a surefire way to become a political party. Become the actual mayor of the city after the elections this November.

In addition, Adams’ frontrunner status was cemented shortly after another candidate, himself a staunch crypto advocate, Andrew Yang, Accept defeat after the first vote count, his opponent was in the lead. Within hours, Adam Yang seemed to have ripped the words out of his mouth – literally.

Adams is a former police officer who has referred to himself as a “Conservative Republican” throughout his political career. He has successfully opened up large foundations, established himself as criminal and connected to the real estate industry, and attracted local unions, parties and churches by expressing his allegiance to “the values given to him by his single mother when he struggled with hunger and as a young man Homelessness”.

While progressives aren’t surprised to criticize Adams, his strategy also works to make sure Yang stays on the right track. Yang’s recent political history has been tense, including the rumored shortlist for a role as Secretary of Commerce in Joe Biden’s cabinet and a high profile presidential campaign, neither of which has had positive results for his fans of the crypto community. Since Yang is no longer running for mayor, the apparent blow could quickly turn into a promising opportunity for the industry.
