Researchers from Microsoft, Alibaba Group and Carnegie Mellon University launched a report claiming that the Ethereum community may help stop piracy. The report, entitled “Argus: A Fully Transparent Incentive System for Anti-Piracy Campaigns,” describes how Argus outperforms present options.
Researchers Xian Zhang, Xiaobing Guo, Zixuan Zeng, Wenyan Liu, Zhongxin Guo, Yang Chen, Shuo Chen, Qiufeng Yin and Mao Yang – from Carnegie Mellon University, Alibaba Group and Microsoft Research Asia – have to develop a brand new “completely transparent” system primarily based on the Ethereum blockchain:
“The Argus platform builds objectives for absolutely clear incentive mechanisms that securely and comprehensively strengthen the numerous pursuits in every position. These objectives type the core of the Argus design, highlighted by useful improvements that promote Sybil proof, a dedication and disclosure scheme, and an unconscious switch plan. In this manner we have now overcome a quantity of inevitable obstacles in an effort to assure confidentiality regardless of full transparency. “
“In addition, we are effectively optimizing some cryptographic operations to reduce the cost of reporting piracy to a level equivalent to the cost of about 14 ETH transactions for the public Ethereum network, if zero equals thousands of transactions.”
The improvement of an Ethereum-based anti-piracy system from Microsoft follows the firm’s decentralized id resolution primarily based on the Bitcoin blockchain. Microsoft launched the ION Decentralized Identity (DID) community in the Bitcoin mainnet on March 25, 2021. Argus builders are centered on combating piracy and hope that “real anti-piracy campaigns will really work by moving to a fully transparent incentive mechanism.”
“Argus is a primary instance of the consequence of this disciplined method. It outperforms present options in phrases of belief and safety attributes. “
