What is TE-FOOD?
TE-FOOD is a food traceability ecosystem on blockchain. It aims to provide a solution for companies with a high level of technological readiness to engage and track their products.
It will also integrate service providers for contracting, managing and clearing services within its ecosystem.
The Process Framework is the core of the system, containing the framework for managing B2B processes and functions, creating traceability documentation, and managing blockchain ledger plugins. Using Process Framework, TE-FOOD (TONE) implementation partners can use process templates created for specific food categories or create a new, custom process template with datasets , roles, process steps, and forms.
All its functions are contained in the cloud storage service. Thus enabling flexible deployment, providing fast operation independently of location, and helping to avoid scalability and availability issues. Should be compatible with both mobile devices, web or the interface of the ERP control system or similar system that requires and manages the connection with other supporting microservices.
The Parameter Repository contains all the data that might be needed in the Process Framework TE-FOOD, from user-specific data to traceable event prototypes (e.g. feeds). The requirement is to manage the relationship between different data sources and the volume of data during the processing of the traceability process. As such, evaluating the performance of the data management layer is essential for the design and development of a production architecture. To meet these requirements, Process Framework TE-FOOD uses fault-tolerant and high-throughput IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions as support for RDBMS resources, which have been used by leading technology companies. as well as implementing carefully constructed data relational models.
During the first stage of development, any transaction data that was written to the Parameter Repository is forwarded to the Blockchain Plugin Framework. This will allow TE -FOOD (TONE) customers to be able to validate any data processed and displayed against a blockchain that provides reliability and immutability. In the future, all traceability data records will take place simultaneously in the Parameter Repository and TE-FOOD Blockchain.
Traceability Document Repository
As the product reaches the end of the supply chain path, the Framework generates a log document from the traceability data, which is displayed to the consumer. It also contains links that point to blockchain hashes corresponding to specific product transactions
Traceability Document Repository is implemented on distributed NOSQL database, but it can then be migrated to IPFS and some functionality can be delegated to Master Nodes.
Blockchain Plugin Framework
Manage interfaces to “store/request” data in the blockchain ledger.
Blockchain Plugin Framework allows food companies to store their traceability data in different blockchains (TE-FOOD Blockchain, Vechain, IBM Food Trust, Zebi…) or send data to an external system via via OriginTrail protocol.
Companies intending to use the external blockchain will still be able to use identity documents, client applications and the TE-FOOD (TONE) ecosystem, but their traceability data will have a transaction interface with the selected third-party blockchain. To support this flexible structure, TONE designed its masternode structure to participate in interface transactions.
TE-FOOD's Distributed/Decentralized Data Ledger (TONE). This unit provides reliable verification of any underlying and aggregate data against cryptographically hashed data and immutable storage in the blockchain. TE-FOOD Blockchain is also the foundation for component-enabled software solutions (aka Dapps).
The fact that TE-FOOD provides blockchain functionality integrated with a traceability solution is intended to make early users' food and agricultural standards compliance possible with rapid blockchain deployment and cost-effective. TE-FOOD (TONE) also provides a private and licensed blockchain solution. So food companies can choose whichever solution suits their needs.
