A BlackRock-linked ETF wallet moved more than $271 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum to Coinbase Prime, according to on-chain tracking that flagged a simultaneous BTC and ETH transfer to the institutional platform. The movement is reported rather than fully confirmed, and it does not by itself prove any intent to sell.

The transfer was first surfaced by on-chain monitors and involved roughly 2,019 BTC and 29,928 ETH sent to Coinbase Prime. Both assets moved together, which is what drew analyst attention.

The activity was highlighted in a Lookonchain post on X, the primary source for this story. The associated wallet activity can be reviewed directly on Etherscan.

Why a move to Coinbase Prime draws institutional attention

Coinbase Prime is the custody and execution venue used by many U.S. spot ETF issuers, so transfers routed to it are watched closely for signs of creation, redemption, or rebalancing activity.

The presence of assets on Coinbase Prime is infrastructure context, not a directional signal. A deposit can support operational needs, custody shifts, or execution readiness without any accompanying trade.

BlackRock-linked wallets have repeatedly interacted with the platform. Earlier flows included a deposit of 5,212 BTC and 20,000 ETH to Coinbase, while other events ran the other direction, such as when BlackRock withdrew 2,152 BTC from Coinbase Prime in one hour.

What is confirmed on-chain and what is not

The verifiable element is the wallet movement itself. What remains unconfirmed is any interpretation about liquidation, ETF redemption, or portfolio reallocation.

The local research carries a partial verification status and low confidence, with no direct BlackRock or Coinbase statement attached to the transfer. On-chain deposits to an exchange do not, on their own, prove spot selling pressure.

Readers should treat the destination and amounts as observed data and the motive as open. That distinction is the difference between reporting a flow and asserting a market outcome.

Why simultaneous BTC and ETH movement is notable

This is a cross-asset event rather than a single-coin story, spanning both Bitcoin and Ethereum. Paired movement of this size is often read as coordinated portfolio activity rather than isolated wallet housekeeping.

Institutions monitor wallet-routing behavior around ETF-related infrastructure because the path assets take can precede reporting in official flow data. A similar dual-asset pattern appeared when BlackRock transferred 3,625 BTC and 20,598 ETH to Coinbase, and comparable routing has been seen from other issuers, including a Grayscale transfer of 814 BTC and 11,421 ETH to Coinbase Prime.

What traders and policy watchers should monitor next

Which confirmations matter most? A direct statement from BlackRock or Coinbase, or an update to official ETF creation and redemption data, would carry more weight than the wallet flow alone.

What would strengthen the interpretation? Follow-on movement from Coinbase Prime into trading wallets, or matching outflows in issuer holdings, would support a reallocation reading. Absent that, the deposit stays ambiguous.

Does a Coinbase Prime transfer mean imminent selling? No. Assets can sit on the platform for custody or operational reasons, and the research provides no confirmation of any sale tied to this move.
