     The Mina network has a size of only 22 KB, which is miniscule when compared to Bitcoin’s 300 GB blockchain.

     What Is Mina Protocol’s Main Objective?

     Mina is working on achieving an efficient distributed payment system that enables users to natively verify the platform right from the genesis block. Its technical whitepaper calls this a “succinct blockchain.”

     The protocol uses Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge (zk-SNARKs), a cryptographic proof that enables someone to authenticate information without revealing said information. However, enabling a user to trace the platform back to its genesis block can be impractical in a large network. As such, Mina incrementally computes SNARKS that concentrate only on the last few blocks — meaning that end-users check that zk-SNARK-compressed proof, instead of a block’s entire transaction history.

     Apart from bundling transactions into blocks, block producers also have to SNARK an equivalent number of previously committed trades as failure to do so during block production would lead to incomplete blocks and other nodes rejecting their validity.

     If a block producer wants to incorporate 10 transactions on the chain, they must also SNARK trades from the front of the queue. However, they have the option to produce the SNARK or use those generated by a special group of participants called snarkers.

     Snarkers, also known as provers, produce zk-SNARKs used in verifying transactions.

     Block producers pay snarkers from the overall transaction fees they receive for adding new blocks. However, to qualify for the fees, they have to post bids. Note that a snarker’s zk-SNARK needs to be used in a block while the block producer who uses it is responsible for incentivizing the snarker.

     This creates a business economy where multiple snarkers can post bids tied to the same transaction. Block producers, on the other hand, are in for the profits and will choose the bid with the lowest fees. Consequently, snarkers are challenged to produce low-cost SNARKS.

     How Transactions Happen On Mina

     The process starts with a user initiating a transaction, after which the trade goes to the mempool, a pool of valid but unconfirmed transactions.

     Next, snarkers take over by making proofs or SNARKS. The process follows with the selection of a block producer (BP) to bundle transactions into a block. Note that a BP sifts through the mempool for profitable transactions.

     Then, the BP chooses a SNARK according to the rules in the consensus mechanism.

     Note that a block producer scans through the bids for the lowest-priced SNARK. In addition, recently added transactions have an updated SNARKS order book.

     Next, it’s time to incorporate the SNARKS in a block, then add the block to the chain and update the network. Snarked transactions are removed from the chain to help keep the size of the protocol constant.

     The issuance and removal of MKR from the system is governed by a complex system of interdependent mechanisms designed to ensure that DAI is always fully collateralized by other cryptocurrency assets and its soft peg to the USD is maintained. There is no hard-coded limit on the total supply of MKR.

     DAI’s value is secured by collateral — other cryptocurrencies that are deposited by users when minting new DAI tokens and stored in so-called vaults —

     on the Ethereum blockchain.

     During price downswings, the value of crypto stored in the vault might become insufficient to fully collateralize the corresponding amount of DAI. In that case, the Maker Protocol automatically initiates the liquidation of the vault’s contents, the proceeds of which it uses to cover that vault’s obligations. If the amount of DAI generated during the liquidation is not enough, the Maker Protocol mints new MKR tokens to sell and cover the remaining sum, thereby increasing the total supply.

     However, in some cases, the amount of DAI made from the auctions exceeds the necessary limit to ensure full collateralizations — then, it is used by the Maker Protocol to buy back and burn MKR tokens, decreasing their total supply.

<p class="MuiTypography-root jss1949 MuiTypography-body2 MuiTypography-paragraph">The key component of the Maker protocol and method with which Dai is created is known as a Vault. A Vault is created by depositing collateral into a smart contract which then mints an amount of Dai specified by the user. The dollar value of the collateral must be greater than 150% the value of Dai (current Collateralization Ratio). The user can transact freely with their Dai. If they want to receive their initial collateral they must pay back both the Dai they withdrew plus the interest rate on the loan (Stability Fee). If at any point, the value of the collateral drops below the collateralization ratio, then their position is subject to liquidations where anyone can come in and purchase the underlying collateral to repay the debt. Known as Keepers, these actors are motivated by the profit opportunity from buying the collateral below market price and then selling on the open market.</p>

<ul>
<li><strong>Surplus Auctions</strong> occur when loans remain overcollateralized and payments from stability fees reach a certain amount. After that, Dai is auctioned off to Keepers for MKR which is then subsequently destroyed.</li>
<li><strong>Collateral Auctions</strong> occur when Vaults drop below the Collateralization Ratio. The collateral in the vault is then sold until the outstanding debt is repaid plus a liquidation penalty. At that point, the auction becomes a reverse auction, where a bidder bids on accepting smaller parts of collateral for that fixed amount of Dai. Once the process ends, the remaining collateral is returned to the vault owner.</li>
<li><strong>Debt Auctions</strong> occur in the worst-case scenario when the price of collateral drops precipitously such that it can no longer cover the entire debt paid. The system will first look towards the surplus from Stability Fees to cover the debt. If that is not sufficient, a reverse auction occurs to cover the fixed amount of Dai necessary to make the system whole. Bidders compete on willingness to accept decreasing amounts of MKR for the shortfall in Dai.</li>
</ul>
<p class="MuiTypography-root jss1949 MuiTypography-body2 MuiTypography-paragraph"><strong>Dai Savings Rate (DSR)</strong></p>
<p class="MuiTypography-root jss1949 MuiTypography-body2 MuiTypography-paragraph">The DSR was implemented in MCD as a way for Dai holders to earn interest on their holdings. Users can deposit Dai into a non-custodial smart contract and immediately begin earning interest funded by Stability Fee payments. They are also free to withdraw at any time. The DSR serves as a monetary policy tool for governance to control the outstanding supply of Dai in order to manage the $1 peg. If the peg were to drop below $1, MKR holders could vote to increase the DSR. This would incentivize Dai holders to lock more Dai up, decreasing the supply and ideally bringing the price back up.</p>

<p class="MuiTypography-root jss1114 MuiTypography-body2 MuiTypography-paragraph">The first iteration was known as Single Collateral Dai (SCD) because Ethereum was the only asset used as collateral to take out a loan. It launched in December 2017 and grew to support $100 million worth of debt. Despite a 94% decrease in the value of collateral over that time, the system remained healthy and Dai maintained a close peg to $1. Since Dai was the only widespread stablecoin that did not require a company to back it by holding US dollars, it became an integral piece of the growing decentralized finance ecosystem. While SCD proved to be effective, the intended goal was to transition to Multi Collateral Dai (MCD) that could accept collateral other than Dai as well as implement other key design changes.</p>

<p class="MuiTypography-root jss1114 MuiTypography-body2 MuiTypography-paragraph">In November 2019 MakerDAO $2 the protocol to MCD with Basic Attention Token ($2) being voted as the first additional collateral available. The existing single collateral system continues to function as is while users are encouraged to migrate to the new Dai. Eventually, the single collateral system will be phased out altogether. In addition to the new collateral, MCD made other important design changes such as the introduction of the Dai Savings Rate (DSR) which allows Dai holders to earn yield and collateral auctions that create a competitive market for liquidations.</p>

<p>All of the revenue the protocol makes on a whole-systems level go into Tokemak&rsquo;s treasury pool, dubbed the &ldquo;Protocol Controlled Assets.&rdquo; This pool uses the same assets to further provide liquidity on different protocols and cover liquidity providers for impermanent loss.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Over time, the goal is to grow the Protocol Controlled Assets pool reserve big enough for the protocol to tighten up the TOKE monetary supply and start paying out a portion of the revenue rather than TOKE as liquidity provider rewards.</p>
<p>Carson anticipates that, in the future, Tokemak&rsquo;s DAO could vote to pay out the yield generated from the Protocol Controlled Assets treasury pool to TOKE holders or use the yields to burn and redeem TOKE to put deflationary pressure on the token. <h2>What is Maiar DEX (MEX)?</h2>
<p>Maiar is a DEX with AMM running on Elrond Network. The project is designed by the team that built the Elrond blockchain. This is also the first decentralized exchange of this ecosystem.</p>
<p>Elrond ecosystem has more than 200 partners. With the launch of Maiar DEX, EGLD tokens (Elrond's native token) will be deployed more in liquidity pools and expand access for the community. This will also help Maiar exchange quickly gain acceptance, increase transaction volume on the Elrond blockchain, and increase demand for EGLD.</p>
<p>In order to attract liquidity to the Maiar DEX at the beginning, Elrond Network established a liquidity stimulus package (incentive program) worth 1.29 billion USD in the form of MEX tokens. Specifically, the exchange will reward MEX for those who provide liquidity in EGLD, MEX and USDC tokens on Maiar exchange. This program starts on November 19, 2021. <p>With the AMM mechanism, users can trade or swap one amount of tokens for another completely automatically. The AMM concept is based on a mathematical formula for valuing assets. Instead of using an order book like a traditional exchange, Maiar DEX uses the same formula as Uniswap: x * y = k.</p>
<p>x is the number of tokens in the liquidity pool<br />y is the quantity of the other token.<br />k is a fixed constant (i.e. the pool's total liquidity should always remain the same).</p>

<p>Liquidity Providers are incentivized for their contribution with rewards. Upon depositing, the Liquidity Provider will receive a new token representing their holdings, called the LP token.</p>
<p>There is a 0.3% fee for token swaps. In which: 0.25% is transferred to Liquidity Providers and the remaining 0.05% contract will buy MEX tokens from Pool EGLD/MEX and burn. This 0.25% fee is divided among the Liquidity Provider in proportion to their contribution to the Liquidity Reserves.</p>
<p>On Maiar DEX, LP tokens can also be staked in a specific Staking Pool to earn more rewards in the form of MEX tokens. Therefore, Liquidity Provider will earn double profit, including: fees from LP and MEX.</p>
<h3>Farm</h3>
<p>Farms aim to incentivize long-term liquidity by generating extra profits for their Liquidity Provider Stake LP tokens. Farm rewards are usually offered in the form of MEX tokens.</p>
<h3>Locked MEX (LKMEX)</h3>
<p>You can earn double APR on Farm MEXs if you choose to lock your rewards. You will then earn a reward of LKMEX tokens.</p>

<p>MEX is the utility token of Maiar DEX. This token, will initially be used to reward Maiar users and in the future will increase in use as the Maiar ecosystem expands.</p>
