Circle French AMF Registration Approval: Expanding Presence in EU

To bolster its commitment to France and the European Union, the company has named Coralie Billmann, a seasoned professional in the payment industry, to lead its licensed business in France. However, it’s crucial to note that Billmann’s appointment is currently pending regulatory approval.

To kickstart its operations in France, Circle faces the prerequisite of obtaining approval as a payment services provider (PSP) or registration as an agent of a PSP. The company has set its sights on acquiring an Electronic Money Institution license, a step that will fulfill the conditions tied to its registration.

Leadership Transition and Compliance Focus

Circle’s overarching objective is to subject its European operations to comprehensive EU oversight by securing both a full DASP (Digital Asset Service Provider) and Electronic Money Institution license, adhering to the stringent standards outlined by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR).

Furthermore, Circle aims to align its products and services with the upcoming Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regime, demonstrating its proactive approach to staying ahead of regulatory developments.
