David Beckham, the world-renowned athlete and entrepreneur has been named a worldwide brand ambassador for the DigitalBits blockchain platform.
DigitalBits is a Layer 1 blockchain technology that allows assets to be tokenized on its blockchain, such as NFTs created by musicians, sports teams, and other businesses.
Beckham, being one of the most well-known people on the planet, has extensive expertise and ties with major corporations such as Adidas, Maserati, Tudor, Sands, Diageo, and Electronic Arts. Beckham has been UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador for almost two decades, promoting and preserving the rights of the world’s most vulnerable children.
David Beckham isn’t the only sports legend who has experimented in bitcoin. Naomi Osaka, a Japanese professional tennis player, has become an ambassador for cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
According to reports, Osaka will gain a share in FTX as well as other benefits as part of the deal. The top-seeded tennis player has now joined Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, and his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen, all of whom are from the United States.
Prior to joining FTX, the 24-year-old tennis ace worked with Brady’s NFT platform, Autograph, to produce her first non-fungible token collection. Osaka, who has surpassed Serena Williams as the world’s highest-paid female tennis player, has indicated interest in Dogecoin as well.
Regulators are getting increasingly anxious as more celebrities jump on the Cryptocurrency bandwagon. Even though the market is still small, the Bank of England announced the construction of the country’s first regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
