Uganda does not have specific crypto legislation and crypto activities are not prohibited. The Bank of Uganda issued a public notice in 2017 warning about the risks of cryptocurrencies but did not ban them. The Capital Markets Authority Uganda is working on developing a framework for digital assets. Uganda has growing P2P crypto adoption driven by mobile money infrastructure and remittance use cases.
