Ripple Enters Morocco Through A New Partnership With Attijariwafa
Ripple – a global cross-border payments company, and Attijariwafa bank, one of the largest banks in Morocco and Africa, have created a strategic partnership, and Thunes is enabling Ripple to expand into Morocco.
Since Thunes and Attijariwafa Bank are connected by XRP and its remittance technology, RippleNet, this relationship is crucial. Due to the integration of RippleNet and Thunes, customers of Attijariwafa Bank will be able to receive cross-border transfers initiated through that network more swiftly.
The agreement will also make it possible for any of Morocco’s almost 30 million bank account holders to receive incoming payments directly to their accounts, according to a Thunes news release. It is also possible to communicate with clients of other Moroccan banks through the local clearing.
Brooks Entwistle, MD of APAC and MENA at XRP, said:
“We are thrilled to announce this extension to our existing partnership with Thunes, and together we look forward to providing a faster, cost-effective, and more transparent cross-border payments experience for customers in Morocco and the greater MENA region.”
