Eugene Gorokhov, Morgan’s attorney, filed a request for clarification from the court to determine whether Morgan may access her wallets without going against the terms of the pretrial release.

In February of this year, U.S. investigators detained Morgan and her husband, co-defendant Ilya Lichtenstein, on suspicion that they had been laundering enormous amounts of bitcoin obtained from Bitfinex. While they are awaiting trial, they are not allowed to conduct cryptocurrency transactions.
The two may receive a 25-year sentence if found guilty of crimes including conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to defraud the United States if the case goes to trial. The couple requested a delay of the proceedings after their initial hearings earlier this year and were granted one after posting a combined $8 million bond. This allowed them to speak with prosecutors about potential plea bargains.
Morgan has been given the go-ahead to look for work. Additionally, she recently ended a six-month silence by declaring on Twitter that any cryptocurrency or non-fungible token scheme bearing her likeness is a fraud that she does not support.
