Alex Jones Accused Of Embezzlement Of Bitcoin Raised

According to a corporate representative for his business, U.S. radio show host and conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones has transferred donations made in Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies to his flagship media outlet Infowars to his own pocket.

Brittany Paz, an attorney who represents Free Speech Systems, the company that runs Infowars, testified against Jones in a Connecticut civil defamation trial. The trial was initiated by the parents of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims in 2012. The tragedy, according to Jones and his media outlet, was a “hoax” orchestrated by the American government.

The crypto donations solicited during the show go “directly to Alex Jones personally,” according to Paz, as reported by The Independent:

“He doesn’t tell anybody where it goes or what he does with it”.

The lawyer says that, since 2012, viewership of Jones’ show, which is also streamed, has increased.

Last month, in a similar trial held in Texas, Jones was forced to pay about $49.3 million in restitution and punishment for his fake prank claim against the parents of the child who was killed in the shooting.

To protect itself and its owners from financial loss, Free Speech Systems filed for bankruptcy protection within the first week of its first trial. According to data from British broadcaster BBC, an economist hired by the parents who sued Jones testified that the owner of the company, his media brand, and its parent company are worth up to $270 million.
