Algorand Appoints Former Head At Visa, Fidelity As CMO
As the blockchain firm looks to extend its brand and reach through strategic growth efforts, Algorand has appointed a veteran communications executive from Fidelity Investments and Visa as its chief marketing officer.
Michele Quintaglie will be looking for sponsorship possibilities and assisting the brand with story building and influencer marketing. In a statement, Quintaglie said:
“Algorand represents the key values I look for in any great brand — amazing technology, global reach, proven leadership, and most importantly, a purpose-driven ethos to create technologies that offer meaningful societal and environmental impact.”
According to her LinkedIn page, the new Algorand CMO was the head of communications for Fidelity Investments’ asset management business from 2005 until 2014. After that, she was the worldwide head of communications at Visa for three years.
She most recently served as United Technologies’ worldwide external communications and corporate marketing director, as well as Raytheon Technologies’ global media relations and public affairs director when the companies combined. She resigned from the latter position in July 2021.
Quintaglie previously worked as an information officer and crisis spokesman for the United Nations World Food Programme and UNICEF in Africa for more than a decade.
Algorand Interim CEO Sean Ford said in a statement:
“With an extensive track record of proven success in global communications and marketing across the corporate, agency and UN development world, Michele will continue to strengthen Algorand’s profile as a leading provider of Web3 infrastructure.”
Algorand announced in May that it will become FIFA’s official blockchain platform, acting as a regional supporter in North America and Europe for the FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in November in Qatar, as well as a sponsor for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The CMO appointment follows Algorand’s appointment of Ford, formerly the company’s chief operating officer, as temporary CEO in July. He took over for Steven Kokinos, who will remain with Algorand as a senior advisor until mid-2023.
