South Korean Internet Giant Naver Launched NFT Platform
On Wednesday, South Korean internet giant Naver Corp. launched its NOW.Drops non-fungible token (NFT) platform alongside LINE NEXT. The site will allow K-pop music enthusiasts to construct personalized NFTs.
NOW.Drops allows fans to create NFTs of their favorite musical performances by cropping them out of exclusive content on NOW., Naver’s live audio and video streaming service featuring South Korean musicians.
Users must pay “crystals” in order to mint and store specific clips of their favorite acts, which can also be used to purchase other NFTs on the site.
NOW.Drops may be accessible using LINE’s e-wallet DOSI, which users can log into using their social network profiles to make payments.
K-pop girl group NMIXX staged an exclusive comeback showcase on NOW during the launch, as well as an NFT airdrop event on the newly launched platform.
LINE NEXT is the NFT division of LINE Corporation, a Tokyo-based mobile app company owned by Naver and the Softbank Group.
